    Hello, my name is Dr. Donald Liebell from Virginia Beach.  I have been licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine since 1993.  Studying and treating the neck has been my life's work since 1988.  I am the only doctor in Virginia Beach board certified in Atlas Orthogonal (AO).  This math-based procedure focuses on the UPPER part of the neck, which is certainly one of the most overlooked, yet critical areas of the body.

    Countless millions of Americans suffer from neck pain and neck-related conditions.  Many people are incompletely or inaccurately diagnosed as having a muscle problem,  “arthritis” or a bulging disc.  In addition, physicians may not fully understand or consider how many different medical conditions are related to the neck.  For example, tens of millions suffer chronic headaches, which medical research has proven can by caused by upper neck problems.  Plus neck problems can "spread" to the shoulder, arm and hand.  It can cause hand numbness, pain, or "pins and needles" (often mis-diagnosed as "carpal tunnel syndrome").   This may be more likely a cervical radiculopathy.

    Perhaps you've been diagnosed with a bulging or herniated disc, and you've been told "surgery is your only option."  Or maybe you’ve been told that “arthritis” is the cause of your neck pain.  These can be unfortunately inaccurate and closed-minded diagnoses, which I’m proud to frequently prove untrue.  This may also be the case for symptoms associated with concussions.  It is not unusual for the neck to be ignored.  Cervical spinal stenosis is another example of a condition for which surgery is often the only option you ever hear about.
