Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
PNF is a rehabilitation procedure that was developed in the 1940s and 1950s. It was initially meant for paralysis patients. It involves a series of various alternating contractions, relaxations and stretching of muscles and connecting tissues. PNF began usage in health athletes in the 1980s. It is an integral part of most Liebell Clinic patient treatment plans. It is commonly performed with the aid of cold laser therapy.
Traditional Chiropractic Adjustments
In addition to the Atlas Orthogonal correction of the upper neck, some patients require specific spinal adjustments performed by hand. I also use a hand-held joint mobilizing instrument called an Activator.
"The Stick"
This is an outstanding muscle rehabilitation tool that is used by many professional athletes. In my practice I use the stick to work on tight muscles and trigger points (toxic knots in the muscle). It's held with two hands and rolled over the muscles.
