Upgrade Your Golf Game Today...
Heal & Prevent Injuries...
and Get a Competitive Edge:
If you are like most golfers, you're constantly looking to upgrade your clubs and other accessories—to arm yourself with the best equipment you can buy… but you neglect the most critical piece of golf equipment: your BODY
Hello fellow golfer. I'm Dr. Donald Liebell, from Virginia Beach. My mission is to make your golf game more enjoyable, less painful and lower scoring. We can accomplish this together by arming YOU with the best golfing body you can achieve…to upgrade your most powerful golf weapon: YOURSELF!
I provide golfers with the same specialized types of treatment services used by professional golfers worldwide. Plus, I teach you the “tools” for taking better care of yourself on and off the golf course.
Remember: Your golf clubs are only as good as your body can swing them! Although great golf clubs help; great golf clubs don’t make a great golfer. And, as great clubs won’t likely correct your swing; they won’t correct physical imbalances in your body: your joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves.
Let’s face it: times have changed. In the old days, golfers didn’t focus on fitness, body mechanics, diet and health in general. Professional athletes in every sport have changed their approach. For example there was a time that baseball players were discouraged from weightlifting. Golfer certainly didn’t do weights. But as Bob Dylan sang, “The times are changing.” Just take a good look at Tiger Woods; he’s not just a golfer—he’s an athlete.
The fact is that golf IS an athletic sport. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Sure, we’re not running around and jumping (okay, some of us jump up and down after a duff or worm-burner!); it’s not the Tour de France… but golf most definitely is an athletic event. It requires serious coordination of the muscles, tendons and joints of the entire body. Plus every golfer knows that golf is way HARDER to master than many other sports!
Golf also causes a lot of injuries, most notably to the back and elbow. Golfers—whether pro, amateur or total hacker, all face a huge challenge when it comes to playing better and lowering their scores…without proper fitness and conditioning, as well as golf-specific medical care. The harsh reality is that many golfers have lousy posture, poor flexibility, fatigue easily; have spinal imbalances, joint problems, faulty body mechanics etc…which are ruining their game and deteriorating their bodies.
All of these things are dangerous, especially if you’re a “weekend golfer.” You’re way more susceptible to injury…and way slower to recover from injuries. Think about all the repetitive motions you go through on the golf course; not to mention the driving range. Plus, golf is highly ONE-SIDED. You don’t have a backhand and a forehand like in tennis. Nor do you hit shots left-handed and right. You twist your body ASYMMETRICALLY on every swing. This takes its toll. We can’t put blinders on to this cold hard fact of golf life.
How about all the times you bend over to put down and pick up balls? At least once on every hole (do the math…that means 36…not counting “Mulligans,” etc!). Right?
Count all those practice swings too, and you’ve got quite a workout…a workout often done INCORRECTLY and with mechanical problems in your body being put to the test, resulting in wear and tear.
BOTTOM LINE : Your body needs to be a well-oiled machine if you want great success and enjoyment on the golf course. You need optimum joint flexibility, muscle stability and strength and spinal mechanics to get the most out of your equipment. And don’t neglect nutrition either!
Whether we like it or not; even the most perfect golf swing is damaging the lumbar spine (lower back). That’s why top-notch care of the spine is crucial to golfers at every level. Nowadays the elite PGA and LPGA pros know that spinal care is as important as any aspect of their practice and physical training. I can’t imagine myself treating golfers of any skill level, without taking into account the function of their lower back and core stabilizing muscles. Otherwise, neglect would certainly lead to slower recovery and more frequent re-injury.
Doesn’t it make more sense for us to actually find out what you’re doing that’s creating damage and pain?
Think about it: once any underlying structural (and emotional) problems are determined, we can treat problems properly using various non-invasive and drugless procedures, stretching and strengthening for golf-related muscles and joints. Then you can do the appropriate golf drills and exercises that are necessary to change your swing and create new functional muscle memory.
**Note: I recommend working with a qualified golf teaching professional. Remember: I’m not a golf pro; I’m a body pro!
Virginia Beach Golfers Best Kept “Secret Weapon”
Don’t you think you be should seek out a professional who specializes in the procedures that are used by the world’s best golfers? Are you serious about upgrading your golf game? Upgrading your golf fitness and health? If the answer is yes, I’m proud to say, you’ve come to the right place!
I will give you the opportunity to learn all about the breakthrough approaches I use for golf-related injuries, chronic pain, fitness, and prevention—technologies and treatments used by professional golfers to eliminate and prevent back, neck, shoulder, “golfer’s elbow,” wrist, knee problems, and tendonitis, as well as amazing, little-known techniques for improving the mental side of the game.
Take some time to learn all about me and how I treat golfers. If you have a specific problem or health condition, let’s take the time to get to the bottom of it—once and for all. Popping pills, accepting “old age,” playing with pain is “stone-age” thinking when it comes to golf and most professional sports these days.
In my practice I take a functional medicine approach (click this link to learn what this means). My treatment philosophy is straightforward: I think that treatment should be chosen to fit the needs of the individual patient, and that ANY and ALL approaches should be considered. Therefore my practice is NOT about any one of the various treatment procedures or technologies I utilize.
I'm interested in improving YOUR GOLF GAME and overall quality of life—doing whatever it takes to get better…using the finest methods I can find…And finding and learning those methods is my ongoing top priority.
What Would Tiger Do?
Who else doesn't want to play golf as well as Tiger? But let's be realistic... let's not hold our breath! However, the least we CAN do is take care of our bodies the same way Tiger and a long list of professional golfers and other elite athletes do.
While I'm not currently a traveling PGA Tour physician; I treat golfers in Virginia - utilizing many of the same protocols and technology used by the Tour's elite players.
My greatest concern is actually for the golfers who are trying very hard to improve their game. They play often, but are simply doing things wrong: playing with pain, fortifying abnormal body mechanics, which makes them more susceptible to injury. Also, many golfers have muscle imbalances caused by underlying nerve problems.
Patients count on me for the know-how and non-invasive technology to treat these critical causes. It’s sort of like checking to see if your circuit-breakers have been flipped—the power supply and wiring have to be connected. In my opinion, all-too-often, muscle treatments and exercise therapies are prescribed without first addressing the nerve function to those muscles.
We must look to the spine and all the mechanical systems of the human body to ensure our best, pain-free performance on the golf course.
And yes... that's exactly what Tiger does, along with most smart PGA pros.
Proper spinal care is the "key to the vault." Your spine houses and protects the spinal cord. Your nerves branch out off of the spinal cord out to the muscles, to make them work. If the joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments - especially your spine doesn't work well... your golf game suffers... or flat-out stinks!
Which health professionals do the elite players of the PGA and LPGA tours turn to for such expertise?
Doctors of Chiropractic, of course. Just ask Tiger:

“Lifting weights and seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis
has made me a better golfer. I’ve been going to a chiropractor
for as long as I can remember. It’s as important to my training as practicing my swing.” – Tiger Woods.

Tiger Woods rode upon the Chiropractic Centennial Float during the 1995 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena. Tiger is among an impressive list of the worlds most elite athletes who seek out doctors of chiropractic who specialize in peak performance, as an integral part of their training, fitness and health lifestyle.
I am proud to use these procedures.
Tiger Woods won the Masters in 1997, as well as three other PGA events. He was under the expert care of chiropractor Dr. Jeff Spencer, who’s clientel includes a vast list of elite athletes, most notably Lance Armstrong. Dr. Spencer has been motivational and inspirational to me as my teacher and role model for treating golfers and other athletes.
Various chiropractic techniques, including Atlas Orthogonal (AO), serve as the foundation of a comprehensive program for injury repair, fitness and prevention. Tiger and numerous elite athletes receive Cold Laser Therapy, Kinesio-taping, and many other drugless and non-surgical treatments to stay at the top of their game.
Elite professional athletes endure physical and emotional stresses that us “mere mortals” simply cannot. Their demands are beyond our comprehension. Consider that some of the worlds’ greatest athletes considered chiropractic care an essential part of their careers:
Today more and more professional touring golfers travel with, or visit a golf-focused chiropractor. They do so to treat injuries, for conditioning, prevention and overall better golf performance. I'm quite proud to have practiced chiropractic in Virginia since 1993.
Studies have shown chiropractic treatment to improve athletic performance. A 1991 study published in the Journal of Chiropractic Research and Clinical Investigation, revealed that chiropractic care could increase athletic performance as much as 16.7% over two weeks. But these elite athletes didn't need research to be convinced!

Fred Funk, PGA Tour Professional:
"I do believe chiropractic has really benefited my game. Over the last three years, I feel I have become more exposed to, and knowledgeable about, the benefits of chiropractic for me and my game. I realize how your body can get out of balance, and chiropractic care helps..."

Barbara Bunkowsky, LPGA Tour Professional:
I have found that chiropractic keeps me flexible and pain-free so that I can perform at my highest level. The benefits of chiropractic have improved my golf swing, putting less stress and strain on my body and allowing me to be a more productive golfer. I believe it also helps prevent other associated injuries that are very common on the LPGA tour."

Players of the PGA and LPGA Tours have experienced the many benefits of chiropractic care for decades. In fact, top PGA athletic trainer, Ralph Simpson has admitted that, "There's a small cadre of probably five to seven golfers (on the tour) who won't receive treatment from anybody but a chiropractor."
If the fact that Tiger Woods has relied on chiropractic his whole life to support his golf game is not enough... consider the fact that David Duval, Vijay Singh, Davis Love III, David Toms and Scott McCarron get chiropractic treatment on the Tour as well.
These are athletes in the top of their field (and Tiger, of course!). No slouches here. They rely on chiropractic care because it's highly effective. It's doesn't take a "rocket science" to realize that GOLF and Chiropractic are a natural together.

According to Dr. Tom LaFountain, who travels with the PGA tour: "From the perspective of most golfers the question is almost always what will get me back playing? And for more and more of the pros, that option includes the adjustive art of chiropractic."

"The best way to use Chiropractic is not only after injuries, but before they occur" "You chiropractor doctors are miracle workers."

Cold Laser Therapy
Cold Laser Therapy is considered to be one of the greatest breakthroughs in medical technology by progressive physicians. That's why some of the world’s greatest athletes have turned to it for pain and injuries.
The Erchonia Cold Laser is simply the most exciting advances in modern medical technology for improving range of motion reducing inflammation, and relieving pain. That’s why so many professional sports teams’ physicians are using it. That’s why I use it in my practice.
Tiger Woods has used it... need I say anymore?
Dr. Jeff Spencer was generous enough to provide training to master his “secrets” for treating the “best of the best” athletes. A large emphasis was placed on the use of the Erchonia Laser.
Let’s face it : Every golfer wants to be able to do what Tiger does.
That’s why I wanted to know the specifics of what kind of treatment Tiger gets.
Of course nobody can golf like Tiger Woods… but at least we can try to treat our bodies like Tiger does. The exciting news is that since I’ve been trained in all of these protocols listed above and more by Dr. Jeff Spencer; I have the 17 years of experience combined with skill, tools and technology to give my golfer patients “Tiger-level” treatment.
Now let me be crystal clear: I’m not a golf pro; I’m a human body pro.
I can help you swing your clubs without hurting yourself, and help you conquer some of the mental challenges. I can isolate weaknesses and biomechanical imbalances and make instant, noticeable improvements in strength within minutes using both technology and hands-on methods.”
I’m passionate about helping golfers, and I’m proud to have the skills, training and technology to do a great job.
