"I tried rheumatologists and physical therapy…all kinds of medicine. I had all the tests: MRI, CAT scans, blood tests and x-rays. All these tests were USELESS…COSTLY...PAINFUL…and DEPRESSING!
"I couldn’t function—I couldn’t work, I couldn’t stand up, sit down or drive. So I was out of commission for a year and a half…Then I heard about Dr. Liebell. I decided to go... it was the best thing I ever did in my life! After my very first treatment, I knew this was the place that I had to be and I wish I had found him 3 years ago. Dr. Liebell is fantastic, very sympathetic and caring. He has essentially given me my life back. I feel great and I don’t hurt anymore…Pain?? I don’t have any pain—I’m like a brand-new person right now…Forget your skepticism—don’t waste a moment and get checked. Maybe you can get your life back too!!”

… few doctors even know examine!
Sophisticated, non-invasive, and affordable technologies that may drastically reduce your pain—even if you’ve been hurting for years, even decades… Cutting edge treatment breakthroughs featured on TV's Hit Show, "The Doctors, and published in medical journals
“Hidden” conditions that MIMIC Fibromyalgia… and why they may by misdiagnosed or never even considered!
So Much Pain… So Much Confusion
Some call it the “invisible disease.” Medical opinions are as varied as the symptoms of Fibromyalgia itself. Doctors are baffled by it. Some don’t even acknowledge such a condition really exists, while others shamelessly write it off as a “psychological” disorder.
Fibromyalgia is different from other conditions. Years of suffering pain, fatigue and depression can strip you of your will to fight it. Just trying to get through the day is a monumental chore—it can break your spirit. You desperately search for answers—dumbfounded, as medical tests come up negative. To many, Fibromyalgia is a mysterious, recently discovered condition.
But is it?
Could it be that many different symptoms that are caused by many different things are being lumped together under the banner of Fibromyalgia? One must also wonder if treating its symptoms with antidepressants, pain and sleeping pills, and medication designed for suppressing seizures and convulsions, is a safe and reasonable long-term treatment approach.
Like many doctors, I disagree with the guidelines for arriving at the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. The American College of Rheumatology defines it based upon symptoms of “widespread pain” throughout the body and “Pain in 11 of 18 tender point sites.” In my opinion these simplistic criteria are weak at best—leading to tremendous over-diagnosis and misdiagnosis. Further testimony to this is the fact that there is not a single scientifically proven diagnostic test for Fibromyalgia. Yet the diagnosis is still given, it seems, with reckless abandon—along with liberally flowing prescriptions for the latest drug the FDA approves to treat it.
The word, “Fibromyalgia” itself is highly questionable. Its Latin and Greek roots come from “fibro,” meaning fibrous… “Myo” meaning muscle… and “algia,” which means pain. Put together, it means pain of the fibrous and muscle tissues. Of course this is a pitifully inaccurate description, considering the wide variety of symptoms beyond mere “fibrous muscle pain.” If you also suffer from symptoms such as chronic fatigue, intolerance to exercise, sleep disorders, headaches, depression, anxiety, skin problems, weather sensitivity, numbness or tingling, restless legs, digestive problems, etc… you clearly have much more than a mere muscle problem!
No single cause of fibromyalgia has been agreed upon by medical research
scientists anywhere in the world. If you haven’t done so already, you can access endless differing medical opinions (including mine) on the Internet. But it is not the purpose of this article to review, debate, or criticize other medical opinions or treatment regimens. I have written this to inform you about what I have to offer Fibromyalgia victims. If you’ve been given a “life sentence”—the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia—you deserve a chance at a normal life.
How Does Dr. Donald Liebell Evaluate and Treat Fibromyalgia?
Actually, I do NOT treat FIBROMYALGIA at all… not really. But I DO treat PEOPLE who have symptoms for which this disease is categorized.
What is the difference?
There is a world of difference! While I do acknowledge it as a diagnosis; it is somewhat ceremonial in nature. This is because, in my experience, no two Fibromyalgia patients have the same underlying causes of their symptoms. On
e can try to treat the condition, Fibromyalgia—by prescribing Lyrica, Savella or Cymbalta. But will you be any healthier? Will your condition be improved if you stop taking the drugs? Will any of the causes of your symptoms be addressed?
I prefer to treat a person —by taking the time to investigate and treat the underlying causes, which may be drastically different for each patient. I prefer to think “outside the box” and consider far more than standard “conventional” medical testing. In my practice, I exclusively utilize various “Complementary and Alternative Medicine” (CAM) methods. But unlike many of my colleagues, I do not take an extreme position; I d
o not object to all “conventional” medications.
Of course we have to realize that “conventional” is a term that simply means “normal” by the standards of masses, over a long period of time. “Conventional” hardly mean superior—just popular. On the other hand, I think “Complementary and Alternative” is a ridiculous distinction too. “Complementary and alternative” to what? To ineffective treatment? The term, “complementary” suggests that it is a “second-class-citizen” to help out the “real” medicine. It’s rather an insulting term.
The public perception for “alternative” is that treatments labeled as such are unproven or unscientific. But every time a physician prescribes a different medicine (if the previous drug failed to help the patient); he/she is suggesting an “alternative” medicine! As far as I’m concerned, health care is ONE thing, which has various options, approaches and specialties. I am in favor of an integrated medical approach. There is no need to feel torn between so-called conventional medicine and CAM. What you should be torn between are ineffective diagnostic and treatment methods, and successful ones.
Terminating the torment of Fibromyalgia is my expertise… my passion... my life’s work. It fuels my spirit to see people rebuild their lives. Using a combination of several holistic evaluation and treatment technologies… I liberate Fibromyalgia sufferers from a “life-sentence” of pain, agony and depression. My treatments are drugless and non-surgical. I do not prescribe painful exercises, nor do I get patients hooked on complicated and costly nutritional regimens. I am very proud to share this information, so that you will also have a chance to end your misery, before it’s too late.
Possible “Hidden” Causes of Your “Fibromyalgia”
Here’s my approach to Fibromyalgia in a nutshell: I have found there to be many possible causes for the wide variety of symptoms. They must ALL be considered. Plus, each person must be evaluated thoroughly and according to their individual needs. I investigate for the causes using several technologies and methods. The list below includes the major causes I have found to be involved in Fibromyalgia. Some patients have just one of these problems, while others have many. I do not run a research facility, nor do I make any claims beyond the fact that I help people diagnosed with Fibromyalgia—by focusing on the following:
Neck Imbalances: A growing number of enlightened doctors and researchers are certain they’ve isolated one of the fundamental causes, for the majority of cases: a structural imbalance of the UPPER NECK. It is rarely considered or diagnosed — a nearly imperceptible narrowing of the spinal canal which can literally choke the spinal cord area. It’s called Upper Cervical Stenosis (UCS). It may be present as early as childhood, but various painful symptoms may take years, or even decades to develop before nerve compression becomes severe enough, due to age-related spinal degeneration or specifically, spinal trauma.
The greatest concentration of nerve connections in the human body is at the upper neck. Misalignment of the bones (Atlas and Axis vertebra) can result in nerve compression, which can affect your entire nervous system, and therefore, your whole body. Research has focused attention on neurological conditions involving compression of the brain stem or upper portion of the spinal cord. The University of Kansas School of Medicine and Arthritis Research Center studied the relationship between neck injury and Fibromyalgia. The conclusion of this study of 161 cases revealed that Fibromyalgia was 13 times more frequent following neck injury, compared to other areas of the body.
I am among the many specialists in the upper neck, who report the vast majority of their Fibromyalgia patients had neck injury, as many as 20 years prior to the onset of their symptoms! I have successfully treated countless patients who were diagnosed with Fibromyalgia by another physician. Many of them had no problems prior to the neck injury. Yet because they did not recover from their injuries in a timely manner, and developed more symptoms (and never received effective treatment); they were told “Fibromyalgia” was the cause!
Many researchers are embracing the “Central Sensitization Theory.” This theory suggests that fibromyalgia victims have a lower pain tolerance because their brains have an increased sensitivity to pain signals. I am certain that UCS neck imbalances along with chemical and other factors are a significant cause. Not everyone recalls having a neck injury, yet imbalances are commonly found. In my clinical experience, this is the most common and significant aspect of Fibromyalgia to consider.
Fortunately, a revolutionary non-surgical treatment option is available. Overjoyed patients have been raving about it, nationwide. It’s an extremely safe, painless, non-invasive procedure that reduces the “choking” effect on the spinal cord. This is the "Neck Secret” for which my website is named. With the Atlas Orthogonal procedure (AO), we are able to detect and treat minuscule physical imbalances between the skull and the upper neck vertebrae. AO is a sophisticated, mathematically-based, rehabilitative treatment performed with a safe and delicate sound wave instrument. It re-aligns the bones of the upper neck with the skull. This reduces the Stenosis (narrowing) of the spinal canal. This in turn, reduces the pressure on the spinal cord/brain stem region, the meninges, as well as blood vessels, to restore normal function.
AO was recently featured on the hit television program, “The Doctors” as well as “The Montel Williams Show.” Many articles, videos, etc. on this website are dedicated to explaining Atlas Orthogonal in detail. Nearly every person I have examined, diagnosed by another physician with Fibromyalgia, has had UCS. AO has been instrumental in their recovery. Click HERE to learn more about Atlas Orthogonal.
Lyme Disease: Blood tests frequently come up falsely negative—and you may notrecall ever being bitten by a tick… but this tremendously UNDER-diagnosed condition, which is caused by a bacteria, may be one of the causes of your condition. An entire article has been devoted to Lyme disease. Click HERE to get the facts about Lyme.
Adrenal Gland Burnout: This is another little-known aspect of Fibromyalgia often ignored… yet it is essential for your recovery. Unfortunately the medical establishment does not acknowledge low adrenal function unless it reaches extreme levels (diagnosed as Addison’s disease). Click HERE for an entire article on Adrenal Burnout.
Thyroid dysfunction: Some people who get diagnosed with Fibromyalgia have underlying thyroid gland problems. This can result in hormone imbalances that mimic or enhance many Fibromyalgia symptoms. Prescription drugs like Synthroid or Armour Thyroid are not the only option. Click HERE to read about thyroid dysfunction.
Metal Toxicity (Aluminum, lead, copper, mercury): This is another critical aspect of Fibromyalgia that must be addressed. It may be responsible for “fibro fog” that suffer. Toxic metals can be absorbed into our bodies from many sources. Some examples include: aluminum cookware, baking soda, deodorants, soda cans, contaminated water, dental filings, some medications and other environmental sources. Fortunately, gentle, easy and low-cost homeopathic detoxification can work wonders. Of course prevention is critical to eliminating metal toxicity.
Viral or Bacterial infections (Epstein Barr, Babesia, Bartonella, Erlichia, Mycoplasma, etc.): Many germs can be part of the Fibromyalgia picture. These causes should be ruled out by your family medical doctor.
Fungal infections: Medical researchers have recently discovered that fungi are for conditions than ever considered before. The problem: conventional medicine is often too risky to treat fungal conditions—so they may be ignored altogether. Click HERE for an entire article devoted to fungal problems.
Electromagnetic Stress: Eliminating toxins and strengthening your immune system is one of the keys to conquering Fibromyalgia. Often ignored however, are the forces that may have triggered a toxic reaction or created a hypersensitive reaction. Electromagnetic forces (EMFs) from can combine with exposure to toxic chemicals to harm the body. EMF exposure can come in the form of high-voltage power lines, cell phones, computers and other electrical devices.
Allergies, Sensitivities or Intolerances to foods, chemicals and environment: What if these problems are triggering other problems? Holistic health care must include this aspect of your condition. Fortunately there are natural approaches that can strengthen your immune system, as part of a comprehensive approach to health. In addition to traditional allergy testing, bio-energetic testing may help.
Human Growth Hormone Imbalance: Cell reproduction, regeneration and growth are controlled by this substance that is produced by the pituitary gland. It can affect weight management as well as effects of aging, immune system and sexual function. It is a complex hormone—with many of its functions still unknown. Use of homeopathy may be useful in some cases to promote its natural balance and production (I do not prescribe growth hormone!).
Arthritic conditions: One or more areas of your body could be affected by arthritic degeneration. While you may have some pain as a result; this does not mean that it’s automatically a part of your “Fibromyalgia.” You should know that many people have arthritic joint degeneration, but don’t have pain. We should not be so quick to always blame pain on arthritis! Click HERE to read my article about arthritis.
Peripheral neuropathies: Nerve problems down the arms or legs may be part of your problem. There are many causes of peripheral neuropathies (covered in detail in another article on this website). Click HERE to discover why peripheral neuropathies are not just for diabetics!
Emotional stress or trauma: One should never underestimate the role of emotional causes of Fibromyalgia (or any health problems). Fortunately a wonderful method known as Emotional Freedom Technique can help.
Neurotransmitter abnormalities: Studies have revealed decreased levels of Serotonin and Dopamine. These are chemicals produced by your body that are involved in pain and sleep dysfunction. This is the chemical imbalance aspect of Fibromyalgia, on which several popular prescription drugs are focused. In my practice I utilize bio-energetic medicine approaches to support physical treatment, which can naturally boost your body’s production of these essential neurotransmitters.
Cell Damage or Abnormalities: Research using electron microscope scans of muscle tissue in Fibromyalgia patients, has shown: excess muscle sugar (glycogen), abnormal mitochondria (parts of cells that produce cell fuel—ATP) and fragmented DNA. This aspect of the condition may be effectively treated using Cold Laser Therapy (addressed in detail in another article on this website)
All of the above should be considered when evaluating and treating people diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Treatments vary according to findings. My treatment technologies are covered individually in detail in other articles on this website. The most commonly used approaches include: Atlas Orthogonal, Cold Laser Therapy, Needle-Free Ear Acupuncture (Auricular Therapy) and Complex Homeopathy. I also recommend you read about Bio-energetic Medicine, which is a sophisticated approach to health care, which has enabled me to help many people.
Realistic Hope
If you have dreamt about living life without constant pain—being able to do all the things you want and love to do, I am offering you realistic hope. I understand that you might be skeptical and afraid. Perhaps you’re wondering if this is just another load of hype. There’s certainly no shortage of Fibromyalgia junk out there—filing you with false hope. If you’ve accepted that you have to “learn to live with the pain,” then the battle IS over. You have surrendered. But if you have some faith that your picture can be much brighter, you may be about to be rescued. If you’ve been “written off” as a “hopeless case,” or told “It’s all in your head,” it is likely that something has been MISSED!
I don’t know how much energy, time and money you’ve wasted on tests and treatment that have not worked. Most people who’ve consulted with me have been in pain on average 10 years, and spent a small fortune in medical care—with terrible results. I understand how hard it is to keep trying… giving up actually seems easier!
Of course I can’t help everyone that I treat. There are so many factors, and no two people are the same. But as long as you're still alive, Fibromyalgia is NOT hopeless. But one thing is certain: it doesn’t go away on its own. It’s long-term and slowly progressing! I’ve been privileged to treat some of the most “hopeless” cases you can imagine. My practice is devoted to helping people who doctors have simply turned their backs on and thrown out in the trash.
If you’re serious about getting better, a better life may be right around the corner. I have the road map. You’re the driver. We’ll make the journey together. Don’t listen to those who say, “Nothing can be done”... those doctors who reduce your humanity with one drug after another, making you more removed from who you are. Give yourself one more chance to make a sweeter life for yourself. Life should be a celebration. Our beliefs can move us forward or hold us back. If you believe you can’t be helped, even a little, you’ll never move forward. I’ve seen too many people NOT pursue help... and wilt away. But, most of those who tried... have blossomed back like a flower that only needed water! I urge you to find out for yourself if you’ve got a chance to blossom once again too.
