Laser Biophysicist,
 Dr. Joseph Kleinkort

"The field of photo therapy, once called laser, is blooming right before our very eyes. There have been multiple studies at NASA that even show that retinal damage can be reversed by photonic stimulation...   “I know of no other modality that even comes close to the myriad of physiological changes that take place with the laser and yet no adverse effects.

Dr. Kleinkort has served as Liaison Officer to the World Safety Organization for the United Nations, and was a founding member of the American College of Orthopedic Medicine.

In an abstract published in the journal Laser and Surgery Medicine, Dr. Anders’ research team utilized National Institute of Health image software to count the number of nerve cells regenerated.  Dr. Anders reported, “These results suggest that low power laser is a non-invasive therapy… and may afford a promising treatment for devastating spinal cord injuries.”

“I am so impressed with the laser, and its healing properties, I am now recommending it to my family, friends, and business associates”

"It's Time We Opened Our Eyes to the Light"

“Light energy has been used for healing since the earliest recorded medical history, but has gone out of favor in Western medicine with the advent of the existing paradigm of a more surgical and pharmacological basis... (Cold Laser) has been an essential part of therapy for practitioners around the world for almost 20 years, but it is only recently catching on in the United States. Still, the vast majority of students of medicine and allied health practices in this country are not being taught its efficacy and use...

I have had the opportunity to assist multiple patients with pain management, wound healing and physical recovery… This modality has been the best new technology I have had to offer my patients in the last decade.  It is my hope that others will latch onto this technology and bring it forward, for it is a completely non-invasive option that provides so many physiologic advantages with no apparent side effects.”

Back Pain Solutions?

When back pain is destroying your quality of life—preventing you from doing the things you want and need to do…

    It’s angering.  It’s not fair.  It’s depressing.

Medical opinions can be discouraging and conflicting: “you have to get back surgery”… “you have to learn to live with the pain”… “It’s arthritis, what do you expect at your age”  … or “nothing can be done.”

Maybe you have been to a doctor who took one quick look and told you, “Surgery is your only option.”  Or perhaps another told you your “only option” was steroid injections, pain pills, chiropractic, or physical therapy.

You just want honest answers.  But most of all… you just want relief!  One thing is for certain: if you continue to treat your back problem the same way you’ve been… you’ll get the same results you’ve already gotten.  If you’ve been getting nowhere with the treatment you’ve been receiving... maybe it’s time to try a new strategy—one that considers that your back pain may have more than just one cause… requiring multiple treatment approaches.   You will learn about this and more as you read every word of this article:

  • How an Integrated Medical Approach Gives You the Best Chance to Eliminate Your Back Pain
  • The Easy Way to Tell if a Doctor is Open-Minded and About Your Back Pain
  • What Your DNA Has to Do With Lower Back Pain
  • Why Drugs and Surgery May Not Be Your Only Option
  • Why Chiropractic May Not Be Enough
  • Why “Conventional” Medical Care May Not Be Enough
  • How Non-Surgical Laser Technology Could Be Part of Your Pain Relief Solution

Once Upon a Time…

Once upon a time you were called a “freak” if you didn’t use “conventional” medicine for health problems... you were called a “health nut” if you exercised, took vitamins, or you didn’t follow the doctors orders of “Take two pills and call me in the morning.”  In the old days, if you had back pain or sciatica, your medical options were limited to bed rest and aspirin, and little else.  There wasn’t much technology—no MRI’s or laser surgery.  People called you “crazy” if you went to a chiropractor or an acupuncturist.  It’s a miracle any of us ever got better.

During the 1950’s much long-existing American medical thinking was radically up-ended, as various new scientific discoveries were being made.  We learned about DNA.  We discovered that many things we thought were true about the human body (and the treatment of disease) needed to be re-examined.

We also saw the emergence of various “alternative” medical fields.  They were considered radical or unconventional.  But still, they were becoming very popular, as people began questioning the traditional drugs-and-surgery approach.  This of course, created controversy and hostility from the medical establishment.  Even though new discoveries, and awareness of natural health care approaches were helping people everywhere, the disturbance to the medical “status quo” was not well received by the establishment.

Brilliant people have discovered ways to reverse the effects of many chronic conditions, in some cases by combining sophisticated modern science and technology with ancient healing principles.  Back pain has no exception to this holistic approach.  More and more doctors now understand the importance of integrating Eastern and Western medical principles into their practices.

    “My Way… or the Highway”?

Who could disagree with the idea that a complimentary or integrated approach is best?  There’s an expression: if you’re a hammer… everything looks like a nail.”  Too many health books and doctors rant about their “cure-all” type recommendations for back pain.

Your back is not a nail.  You are unique.  This means you may need one possible type, or several types of treatment that another person may not—even if you have the same symptoms.  In some cases, prescription drugs or surgery are an important part of the treatment of back pain.  I do not use them in my treatment protocols… but it’s absurd to believe that drugs and surgery are always bad.  While this may be the viewpoint of many “alternative” health publications and many physicians, it’s a foolish and closed-minded philosophy.

Of course some people do ultimately need back surgery.  But the public is finally demanding low-risk, non-invasive, rehabilitative treatment options to be considered FIRST (unless it’s a legitimate medical emergency).  Obviously drugs and surgery are used way to often.  Their risks and side effects need to be taken more seriously.

Still, we should be grateful for the existence of over-the-counter and prescription drugs, to get us through tough times.  We should be grateful for the incredible skill and dedication of surgeons.  They are a blessing.  On the other hand, we’ve also heard horror stories of back pain sufferers remaining crippled because more than one doctor said, “nothing can be done.”  Maybe YOU have back pain that simply won’t go away.

Frankly, most people (and sadly, many doctors) don’t know about the recent advances in back treatment that can often reduce and reverse the problem without surgery.  Of course no doctor can or should promise a “cure” in every case.  An intelligent mix of traditional medicine, high tech science, and ancient healing principles can promote healing in many cases of back pain.

Your best chance to eliminate back pain (and all other health problems) comes when we can tear down the walls of conflict, jealousy, competition and ignorance between the various healing arts.  Such harmony puts YOU, the patient above all other interests or professional motives.

It’s critical to consider various types of treatment for your back pain, and to avoid doctors who think their methods are the only treatment you should or could have.  Would you want to go to a surgeon who suggests surgery to every patient he/she encounters?  What about a chiropractor who thinks spinal adjustment is the only possible solution?

Back Pain Has More Than One Cure

Somebody, somewhere likely has the treatment you need, right now.  Professional journals are loaded with clinical research studies about countless hundreds of medical breakthroughs.  A perfect example is revolutionary technology called cold laser therapy—the non-surgical use of specific light frequencies and wavelengths to reduce pain and inflammation, and stimulate natural healing.  This is an example of DNA-based technology that’s advocated by medical doctors, neurosurgeons, chiropractors, anesthesiologists, Chinese medical doctors and osteopathic physicians around the globe.  It has gained considerable popularity with its use by prominent sports icons like Lance Armstrong and Tiger Wood, as well as several major sports franchises.

Erchonia Medical’s patented Cold laser was cleared by the FDA several years ago.  But not all physicians are even aware of this amazing technology, which was discovered decades ago by a Hungarian surgeon.  It has been a blessing to patients who had failed to improve with all previous treatment.  Back and neck pain sufferers who merely a decade ago would have undergone surgery, are being helped by this new revolutionary, non-invasive technology.

The cold laser is just one of many technologies that function as part of a complete or integrated health care model in treating back pain.  It’s critical for doctors to look at many causes of back pain and treat them accordingly.

The most obvious cause of back pain is trauma and strain to the joints and muscles of the spine.  But few doctors consider that there are nutritional aspects too.  For a physician to be thorough in his/her approach to back pain, one must also consider chemical toxins, disturbances to the body’s energy fields, allergies and chemical sensitivities, internal organs, and the much overlooked emotional component of back pain.

The entire spine, from the upper neck to the lower back must be evaluated, as well as the skull, extremities, and other joints.  These are all parts of the back pain equation.  Merely looking at the back—the point of pain is not enough to get the “big picture.”

Modern science has enabled enlightened physicians to work with a truly holistic model of back pain.  But sticking to the single-minded, “one size fits all” approach is perhaps the reason back pain is the leading cause of disability for people under age 45.

It seems that back pain sufferers often kill their chances of success before they even begin—stubbornly sticking to one approach… one doctor… or worse, they accept that they must “live with the pain.”  But the lucky ones -- and the smart ones -- figure out early that nothing good will ever happen... until they find a doctor who thoroughly diagnosis and treats the MULTIPLE causes of their pain.

Life gets a whole lot better when your problem is treated properly… and the pain finally goes away.  In my practice I utilize several approaches to helping people with back pain:

Traditional Chiropractic Adjustments - performed either by hand or instrument

Atlas Orthogonal - the specialized upper neck treatment, which has helped countless                                     people with lower back problems

Needle-Free Ear Acupunture

Cold Laser Therapy
